Stress Bucket

One of my favourite analogies about how we cope with stress is the ‘stress bucket’.

Imagine there’s a bucket you carry with you which slowly fills up when you experience different types of stress.

Sometimes you feel strong enough to carry a lot of stress, but it’s important to find activities which help you lighten the load and release some of your stress.

If you can do activities such as exercising, seeing friends and family, or simply reading a book or listening to music, then you reduce the water rising too high in your bucket.

If you don’t have these activities then the risk is your bucket will overflow…at this point you’ll probably be overwhelmed or in danger of burnout if you don’t reduce your stress.

Stress management and burnout is very close to my heart, so if you want to have a chat about managing your stress bucket, please give me a shout.
